We are 130!

2022 is a very special year for Birmingham Dogs Home as we celebrate 130 years of caring for lost and homeless dogs across the Midlands.

There are lots of ways to celebrate with us as we share our story as part of the fabric of the Midlands and invite you to share your own stories and celebrations with us.

Our Birthday Paw-ty was amazing!

A massive thank you to all those who came to help us celebrate our 130th Birthday in style. Whether big or small, furry or not, we appreciate everyone who came and spent the day with us and helped make our 130th special.

Below are some of the fabulous photos we took throughout the day!

...and the celebration continues!

But don’t worry if you can’t join us for the celebrations, here are some more ways you can support Birmingham Dogs Home!

Our Story

Established in 1892, Birmingham Dogs Home has been serving the community of the West Midlands for generations.

Our charity’s history is interwoven with decades of change for our region as we have provided a vital service through eras of change, surviving two World Wars, times of economic hardship and even a pandemic!

Our services and care has grown and developed to reflect the world we are all living and working in, putting dog welfare at the heart of everything we do.

Throughout our history we have always relied on the generosity of dog loving benefactors and supporters to help us to survive, and thrive.

Today we are well established as one of the Midland’s oldest and best loved charities and every day we strive to provide very highest levels of animal welfare in the region.

Our 130th birthday is marked by the opening of our new in-house veterinary clinic, helping us to provide the highest levels of medical care to every dog that needs care and support, until we can find them their fur-ever homes and a second chance of happiness.
