4 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Ramsey arrived at the Solihull Centre in December 2023 after being found abandoned as a stray dog. He arrived very scared and needed a few weeks to decompress from the trauma he had been through before he could begin to trust the Canine Carers.
When he arrived he knew very few commands so could be tricky to manage. He jumped up, grabbed onto his lead and needed two Canine Carers to walk him safely. The team knew that for him to be happy in a new home his training needed to be worked on.
Over his time at BDH the team have worked with Ramsey to teach him how to keep all four paws on the floor, how to walk calmly on his lead and how to focus on his Canine Carers and not other distractions around him.
They have also worked with him to improve his dog reactivity. Ramsey didn’t seem to have been well socialised before life at BDH and reacted to other dogs by barking and jumping. To help him feel safer on walks they introduced muzzle training which now means that Ramsey doesn’t feel the need to bark at other dogs and even walks calmly next to other dogs.
Due to these massive improvements in his behaviour he has recently been rehomed with his fur-ever family!
