Meet Rocky a very lively and enthusiastic young boy who is now looking for a patient experienced home that can help him continue to learn and develop into the best version of himself.
Rocky is an energetic and excitable dog who can become overwhelmed particularly around other dogs and new people. Due to this overexcitement he is currently being muzzled as a management tool when out and about. With calm handling structure and continued training Rocky is absolutely capable of making progress but he will need owners who are confident managing a strong lively dog and who can advocate for him in busy or stimulating environments.
He is very much an “on the go” character and will need adopters who understand that he is still learning how to switch off and settle. Rocky has shown some destructive behaviour in the home when left alone so he will need a home where he is not left for long periods (maximum 1–2 hours) and where a consistent routine can be put in place to help him succeed.
Rocky is currently working on his basic training and is being introduced to concepts such as “place” (going to his bed and settling). He is very undersocialised and will need patient understanding people who are willing to teach him about the world at a pace he can cope with helping him build confidence and manners over time.
In the home Rocky will need clear boundaries structure and ongoing positive training to help him learn appropriate behaviours and settle into family life. He can be pushy at times and will benefit from adopters who are dog-savvy and able to stay consistent with expectations.
Rocky is suitable to live with children aged 13 and over who are confident around dogs and understand the importance of giving him space and structure when needed. Rocky can have walking buddies but cannot live with dogs for now.
Although he has challenges to work through Rocky is a young dog with real potential. In the right home with time patience and training he has every chance of becoming a loyal rewarding companion who bonds strongly with his people.
