Meet Roy! Roy is an excitable and cheeky Patterdale Terrier with a playful personality and plenty of energy. He is friendly with people and takes treats gently but he can be very enthusiastic on approach to the kennel sometimes jumping up or attempting to make a cheeky escape. Leaving the kennel requires treats and careful handling and he can pull forward on the lead so a harness is preferred.
Roy knows how to sit and while he doesn’t have many tricks yet he enjoys human interaction and accepts being touched and groomed. He has a playful side with toys happily grabbing soft toys and running away with them and tugging nicely with tug toys. He is definitely motivated first by toys and then a close second is food!
Roy would benefit from adopters who have experience with working or high energy terrier breeds as he thrives with clear structure routine and purposeful activity. He may struggle when being left alone and could experience some seperation anxiety so a home where someone is around would suit him best.
He is muzzle trained around other dogs and is looking for a home where he will be the only dog allowing him to feel safe and relaxed in his environment. Roy can live with children aged 8+ provided interactions are sensible and supervised as with any dog.
With the right family to understand his excitement and provide plenty of exercise stimulation and training Roy will be a lively affectionate and devoted companion.
