A Young Hero: 10-Year-Old Keira’s Dedication to Homeless Dogs
At Birmingham Dogs Home, we are continually inspired by the amazing individuals who go above and beyond to support our furry friends. One such incredible supporter is 10-year-old Keira, who ran the Birmingham Great Junior Run on Sunday, May 5th, for the second time to help our homeless dogs.
Keira’s dedication to our cause is nothing short of inspirational. This year, she raised over £90, adding to the impressive £105 she raised in the previous year’s run. Her consistent efforts and heartfelt commitment have made a significant impact, and our dogs are incredibly lucky to have someone like her spreading awareness and raising much-needed funds.
In Keira’s own words, “I did the Great Birmingham Run because I always hope the dogs get a cosy home from tiny puppies to older dogs. I always have hope for them. I am a big dog fan and wish I could rescue every dog and puppy that needs a home but sadly I can’t. So I support them by raising money and doing everything I can for the dogs. I have a rescue dog of my own (a retired greyhound called Magnus) but he sleeps most of the day and is 11 years old.”
“You could help the dogs too by joining in on fundraising efforts e.g the Great Birmingham Run. There is always a dog in need that you could help support”

Despite her young age, Keira has shown remarkable dedication and passion for helping dogs in need. “Even though I am only 10 years old I still managed to raise £95 for the Birmingham Dogs Home. Last year, I raised £105 in the Birmingham Run. I am hoping that next year I will be able to raise more for them,” she shared.
Keira’s commitment to staying fit and preparing for the run every Saturday is truly admirable. “Every Saturday I go running to make sure I stay fit but also make sure I can run for the dogs. I have always loved dogs ever since I was a baby and always will for the rest of my life.”
Keira’s message to others is clear and inspiring: “You could help the dogs too by joining in on fundraising efforts e.g the Great Birmingham Run. There is always a dog in need that you could help support.”
We are incredibly proud of Keira and grateful for her unwavering support. Her efforts not only raise essential funds but also spread awareness about the importance of helping homeless dogs. Keira’s love for dogs and her determination to make a difference are truly heartwarming and serve as a powerful reminder that no one is too young to make a significant impact.
Thank you, Keira, for your incredible dedication and for being a shining example of compassion and generosity. Our dogs are so lucky to have you on their side, and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will continue to achieve in the years to come.
