Phil’s journey with us began in a moment of profound loss after the passing of his first rescue dog in 2015. Seeking to fill the void left behind, Phil and his family visited Birmingham Dogs Home and met Reggie, a small black Staffie who quickly captured their hearts. Despite Reggie’s mischievous nature, he brought immense love and laughter into their lives. Tragically, Reggie’s time with the family was cut short when he passed away from kidney disease just shy of his 9th birthday, leaving a palpable emptiness in their home.

“The house became more quiet and empty without him,” Phil shared, reflecting on the difficult weeks following Reggie’s passing. The family soon realised they were ready to open their hearts again, leading them to Bambi, a boxer cross with a desperate wish for a family. From their first meeting, Bambi’s sweet and loving nature was undeniable, and it was clear she was the one to heal their hearts.

In just two months since bringing Bambi home, Phil and his family have witnessed her personality flourish in a stable, loving environment. “In BDH, she showed no interest in toys, and now she actively seeks play. She loves to roll in heather bushes, and sit in seats where she hardly fits,” Phil recounts with fondness. The joy, love, and stability they have provided Bambi have been returned tenfold, and she has become a cherished, cheeky member of their family.
