At Birmingham Dogs Home, our dedicated team cares for stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing safety, kindness, and second chances to dogs from across our local communities in the West Midlands.

Who we are

Birmingham Dogs Home has been part of the West Midlands community since 1892, when it was founded on land kindly gifted by the late Sir Alfred Gooch Bart in New Canal Street, Birmingham.

For over 130 years, we’ve been here for the region’s dogs, making us not only one of the oldest animal charities in the area, but also one of the most loved.

What we do

At Birmingham Dogs Home, we rescue, care for, and rehome dogs who have nowhere else to turn, but our work goes far beyond rescue.

We support local pet owners, deliver vital veterinary care, provide behavioural rehabilitation, and help prevent dogs from being abandoned in the first place.
